Melbourne’s First Dog Café Is Opening In Collingwood
Yes, you read correctly – Melbourne is getting its first café devoted entirely to dogs.
Where195 Johnston Street, Collingwood
Inspired by a desire to bring fresh, top quality dog food to the people (and their pooches), owners Anuj Yadav and Charles Fernandez are set to open Dog House on Collingwood’s Johnston Street in early July.
While initial plans focused solely on the venue selling fancy pet food, it has since developed into a canine cloud nine, with doggocinos, pupcorn and an array of other puppy friendly treats (think doughnuts, muffins and lollies) on offer for the ultimate pampering experience.
The menu is broader than just dog treats though, with healthier options including grass-fed beef, chicken and kangaroo mixed with rice, as well as game meats such as emu, ostrich and even crocodile.
A dedicated kitchen will be plating up the meals in the back courtyard, alongside a smaller café serving coffee and sandwiches for us puppy parents to enjoy.
Where possible Yadav and Fernandez intend to use locally sourced and organic produce. Five-star pet food will also be on sale so you and your dog can choose to stay in for a treat when you’re not feeling up for a big day on the town.
Aside from food, Dog House will be selling pet shampoos and conditioners from Queensland’s Donerite, one-off handmade collars from Canada and uber-cute costumes to make sure your pooch has the threads to match the digs (dachshund lovers fear not – there will be a hot dog outfit). The venue will also hold birthday parties and potentially weddings at the venue. Yes, dog weddings. Heaven really is a place on earth.
Dog House is set to open early July at 195 Johnston Street, Collingwood.
