Local Eyes explores Melbourne’s best kept secrets, sharing the best restaurants, bars, cafes, nightlife and events that help make this city the most consistently rated ‘Most Liveable City In The World’. Consider us your handy online concierge – available at your desk or in your pocket.
We tell it how it is and provide trustworthy advice on what to see, what to eat and how to experience the best that Melbourne has to offer. Our golden rule is simple: If we wouldn’t take our best friends there to share the experience, then we won’t write about it on here.
Because we’re a worldly bunch, we also have features about other parts of the world too. We’re always looking for contributors, so if you have a local secret you want to share, or have just got back from an eye-opening holiday. Feel free to drop us a line here.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- 1. What is a ‘Local’s Pick’?
A ‘Local’s Pick’ is a restaurant, bar or cafe that we think delivers exceptional quality service and product. Their hard work helps make this city so great and we highly recommend that you visit them. Whilst we only recommend places worth visting, our ‘Local’s Picks’ are just that extra cut above the average. The title of ‘Local’s Pick’ must be earned, it cannot be bought.
- 2. Do we get paid to write nice things about restaurants, bars and cafes?
Before we feature a business on Local Eyes we will conduct a ‘mystery shop’ to see how good they are, we will then consult with other locals and do our research before recommending them.
In relation to our event listings, our editorial team hand-pick events to be selected in our ‘What’s On’ section. If you are an event organiser and think you have an event our audience might be interested, tell us about it at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- 3. How can I get my business or event featured on Local Eyes?
You can drop us an email at email@example.com. If you’re a business we will come and check you out but we can’t make any promises you will be featured.
- 4. How can I write for Local Eyes?
If you’re a freelance journalist, journalism student or a budding blogger, and you have a news story that you think may be relevant to our audience, tell us about it at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that due to the number of pitches we receive we will only be in touch when we receive a story we wish to discuss further.
